Regardless of how the presidential contest is eventually settled, pro-life women stunned observers by gaining substantially in the November national elections for Congress.
With Young Kim and Michelle Steele now declared winners of California congressional seats, at least nine pro-life women flipped pro-abortion U.S. House seats in the November national election for the 117th Congress.
Another six pro-life women replaced pro-life men. With all 11 incumbent pro-life women winning their races, the contingent of pro-life women in the House is up to 26 – a record.
“So far, we have more than doubled the number of pro-life women in the House, with more races to be called,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a group dedicated to electing pro-life women. “These gains are a repudiation of abortion extremism and further evidence that life is a winning issue in politics.”
The gains help dispel the pro-abortion narrative that only men oppose abortion on demand and are willing to seek political office in order to affect policy.
SBA List and its Women Speak Out PAC reportedly reached more than eight million voters in 10 battleground states.
The election of so many conservative women was “one of the biggest stories of last night,” Winning for Women Action Fund spokeswoman Olivia Perez-Cubas tweeted the day after the election. The group donated nearly $5 million to women candidates in the election, Perez-Cubas told the Daily Caller.
In U.S. House races, the nine pro-life women flipping pro-abortion-held seats are: Maria Salazar of Florida; Yvette Herrell of New Mexico; Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota; Nancy Mace of South Carolina; Stephanie Bice of Oklahoma; Ashley Hinson of Iowa; Nicole Malliotakis of New York, and Michelle Steele and Young Kim of California.
In Wyoming, pro-life candidate Republican Cynthia Lummis won a U.S. Senate seat, joining re-elected incumbent Sens. Joni Ernst of Iowa, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi.
On January 5, Georgia will vote in two runoff races, including one featuring pro-life Sen. Kelly Loeffler against pro-abortion challenger Raphael Warnock and incumbent pro-life Sen. David Purdue against pro-abortion challenger Jon Ossoff.
