Biblically Responsible Investing Pioneer Has Long Supported the Pro-Life Cause
Timothy Plan founder and President Art Ally hailed Friday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade (1973).
Six of the nine justices, with Samuel Alito writing the majority opinion and Chief Justice Roberts writing a concurring opinion, agreed that Roe had been decided wrongly in 1973 and that the Constitution contains no right to abortion. Since that unconstitutional ruling 49 years ago, more than 63 million unborn children have died at the hands of abortionists.
“This is an answer to prayer, and it’s also a long overdue corrective to legal tyranny and faulty legal reasoning that plunged our nation into a culture war that has not abated,”
Art Ally
Art Ally and Timothy Plan have long been key supporters of the pro-life movement.
Not A Penny
In fact, Art founded Timothy Plan in 1994 in order to give Christians a way to invest without supporting either abortion or pornography. The very first mailer concealed a penny and asked, “How much money is ok to have invested in abortion or pornography? The answer is simple. Not a penny.”
Art and his wife Bonnie have personally been long active in Florida’s pro-life movement, as well as on the national pro-life scene.
In 1988, Art aligned with hundreds of others to stand for the protection of the unborn, holding up signs along a busy street in Boca Raton, Florida. He served regularly as a volunteer for Why We Stand in the late ’80s. This fueled his unwavering passion for protecting the lives of the unborn.
In 1991, along with 13 other businessmen, Art vowed to offer indigent pregnant women in Boca Raton a choice: If they reject abortion and choose life, they would help pay the cost of raising those children for 18 years.
An Outpouring of Love for the Unborn
On Oct. 6, 1991, in 360 cities nationwide, close to 700,000 participants lined intersections to declare their support for the unborn and to raise awareness. Florida had the strongest turnout in the nation, and Art had the privilege to help organize Orlando’s life chain with 20,000 people attending near downtown Orlando.
That same year, the Christian Action Council, led by then-president Art Ally, organized a commitment of 10,000 people from 200 churches to join in a “life rally” to make a very firm statement that abortion is killing children.
Getting the Message Out in Theaters
“Unplanned,” a powerful 2019 film starring Ashley Bratcher, presents the transformation of Abby Johnson, a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic director, into a pro-life advocate. Her moment of truth came on September 26, 2009, when she assisted with an ultrasound-guided abortion of a 13-week-old baby. She viewed up close the suction-induced abortion as the baby fought to get away from the abortionist’s vacuum tube.
Shown via computer generated imagery, the brief sequence has elicited gasps and tears from audience members all over the United States and Canada.
During the film’s opening weekend in the United States, Timothy Partners Ltd., advisor to the Timothy Plan, bought out seven theaters in a 20-theater complex in Orlando and packed them out on March 26.
“It was a real hit since these 500 ‘free’ tickets paid for by Timothy were snapped up within 24 hours,” Art said. “At the movie’s conclusion, we asked the audience to remain for a couple of minutes while we introduced the directors of 11 of our pro-life, crisis pregnancy centers.”
In 2018, Timothy Partners bought out an Orlando theater to show “Gosnell,” the acclaimed film starring Dean Cain as a detective who helped bring late-term abortionist and infant killer Kermit Gosnell to justice.
“Just as movies can be an incredibly powerful tool of corruption and moral decline, they can also be uplifting and powerfully convey moral truth,” Art says. “That’s why we have long supported Movieguide®, the pro-life Christian movie ministry of Ted Baehr, and why we continue to support pro-life movies in our own community.”
Timothy Partners supports Orlando-based Choices Women’s Clinic, which is a chain of crisis pregnancy centers, and other pro-life ministries.
“This battle is not over, unfortunately,” Art said. “It is now up to states to protect the unborn. We will continue to do our part in the pro-life movement to guarantee every child a chance of being born.”
